Banana flowers hang pendant and are bright pink.Description
The four-armed goddess sits on an open lotus against a dark green background. She holds a discus, sword, bowl of cakes, and a shield. Banana trees flank her, and her tiger mount stands beneath. The subject in the painting appears to be a regional form of the Devi, as the name “Mangala” does not appear in major Hindu scriptures.- ?–2018Catherine Glynn Benkaim and Barbara Timmer, Beverly Hills, CA, partial sale and gift to the Cleveland Museum of Art2018–The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH
