This etching portrays the extended family of the Christ Child including his cousin, Saint John the Baptist.

Description

Battista Agnolo del Moro made this etching to reproduce the most famous painting by Renaissance artist Raphael in his hometown of Verona. Raphael’s composition depicts the Christ Child with members of his family: Joseph, Mary, Mary’s cousin Elizabeth, and Elizabeth’s son John the Baptist. Battista’s graphic style emphasizes the glowing light around the grouping and their tender glances and touch.
