Did You Know?

While working as a stage designer, Gunther Gerzso briefly produced sets and costumes for the Cleveland Playhouse from 1935 through 1940.

Description

Mexican artist Gunther Gerzso was influenced by the geometric abstraction of European artists such as Le Corbusier and Paul Klee during a period spent living abroad. This untitled print features bold and overlapping geometric forms in a stark abstraction that represents the minimal style that Gerszo developed late in his career. These forms were indebted to his interest in architecture, cultivated while he served professionally as a stage designer alongside his work as a fine artist.
