Did You Know?

The 90-mile long Juneau Icefield is one of the largest non-polar masses of snow and ice.

Description

Students in the Juneau Icefield Research Program assist with the research of leading scientists while learning Earth science, wilderness survival, and mountaineering skills. Evan sleeps above the Gilkey Glacier, which with its mist and haziness almost appears as if he is dreaming it. If climate-warming trends continue, the Juneau Icefield is expected to completely disappear by 2200.
