Did You Know?

Joel Meyerowitz studied art and art history at The Ohio State University.

Description

A pioneer in both street photography and in the use of color film, Joel Meyerowitz captured this humorous image in Paris. It reflects a dominant approach to photography espoused by the French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson of waiting to shoot until one finds a “decisive moment.” In such images, the action occupies center stage, and the background is de-emphasized.
