Where he intended to place the maple leaves, Yohei I first applied a white color, which can be seen around the leaf edges under the glaze. This layering on top of the white brightens the color of the translucent red overglaze.Description
Seifū Yohei I made both blue and white porcelains after Ming dynasty (1368–1644) Chinese wares fired in the kilns at Jingdezhen for export.
