Did You Know?

Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood, which encompasses around 550 acres, contains numerous institutions and businesses that employ 30,000 people.

Description

Cleveland artist Garie Waltzer was commissioned to photograph University Circle for the Gund Foundation Annual Report in 2007. Her densely toned black-and-white photographs, many shot from elevated vantage points and employing deep vistas, reveal the Circle’s underlying structure: a graceful interweaving of nature and architecture united by elegantly drawn circulation patterns to produce a harmonious convergence of place and populace.
