Jim Hodges has said that his nontraditional materials—such as those used to make these prints—reflect “a punk attitude of destruction, a kind of anarchist approach to things.”Description
Contemporary artist Jim Hodges has been known since the 1980s for works that—like these prints—often incorporate collage and nontraditional materials. The artist uses such materials to explore universal themes such as love and death and, especially, his experiences during and after the AIDS epidemic of the 1990s. Published by Hodges’s longtime gallery, CRG, the five prints in this series feature natural imagery inspired by the artist’s origins in the Pacific Northwest and incorporate a range of techniques and objects, such as pieces of cardboard and tape.- {{cite web|title=Arena IV (then, then, now…)|url=false|author=Jim Hodges, CRG Gallery|year=2015|access-date=30 May 2026|publisher=Cleveland Museum of Art}}
