Rachel and the Bananaquit
1979
Location: Not on view
Did You Know?
This photograph was made with the short-lived color process Kwik Print, developed in the late 1970s by the commercial printing industry.Description
Kwik Print allowed the creation of a print containing up to thirty layers of color. It could be applied to a variety of surfaces—this image is printed on vinyl—and was quicker and easier than historic processes that layered color. This image shows the artist holding her daughter and, to the side, a bananaquit: a small black and yellow bird found in Central and South America.- 1979-2023Bea Nettles (the artist) [1946-], Urbana, IL, given to The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OHMarch 6, 2023-The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH
