Prostitution is legal in Colombia.Description
When documentary photographer Danny Lyon visited Santa Marta, Colombia, he photographed and filmed prostitutes in some of the brothels for a documentary. He photographed the residents of brothels in Los Arbolitos, Colombia (see 2008.41) too. Lyon said that “by local standards the girls were well off,” able to send home money to support their parents and siblings. This subject formed a counterpoint to the photographs and films he made each morning of children living alone without parents, on the streets (see 2017.259 and 2017.260).- {{cite web|title=Gloria and Rosario, Santa Marta, Colombia|url=false|author=Danny Lyon|year=1972, printed later|access-date=19 December 2025|publisher=Cleveland Museum of Art}}
