Did You Know?

A self-taught photographer, Danny Lyon went to the American South while still in college to work for the movement and document the injustices he saw.

Description

Freedom Rides were trips taken by black and white activists who traveled by bus throughout the American South in 1961 to protest segregated bus terminals and “whites only” restrooms, waiting rooms, and lunch counters. Note that all the figures in the military recruitment posters are white people.
