Did You Know?

Brown noted of etching that “the medium is a joy, a pleasure to work with and not something to be overcome.”

Description

This print dates from around the time that Kathan Brown founded Crown Point Press, a renowned print shop that focused on intaglio prints. For over half a century, the press has allowed artists to travel from around the world by invitation to translate their work to etching with the assistance of master printers. Although Brown is often recognized for her role in this program, she began as an etcher herself, inspired by studying such works in the collection of the British Museum. Evening Sun Reflected reveals Brown’s interest in combining techniques to create abstract forms.
