Did You Know?
Risaku Suzuki was inspired to photograph Mont Sainte-Victoire after seeing Paul Cézanne’s paintings of the mountain.Description
Suzuki used two cameras to photograph the mountain: a 6 x 7-inch camera to allow for a sense of spontaneous movement, and an 8 x 10-inch view camera to capture more static views. The 43 color images in the series comprise a journey up the mountain from the pine forests at its base to the peak’s barren crags.- ?–?Risaku Suzuki (the artist) [1963–], given to The Joy of Giving Something, Inc., Syracuse, NY?–2026The Joy of Giving Something, Inc., Syracuse, NY, given to the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OHMarch 2, 2026–The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH
