This small, undated sales catalogue, which includes mask and diadem electrotypes (or “galvanoplastic copies”) attests to the past popularity of such reproductions of Mycenaean and Minoan artifacts. A short essay printed in German, French, and English highlights numerous prehistoric objects discovered in then-recent excavations. Rather than travel to Greece, readers could purchase copies like the mask and lion-head rhyton illustrated here, reproducing “the original form as well as the color and brilliancy of the metals.” The diadem appears on another page.
