Set of Human Ear Effigies
900–500 BC
Location: 233 Mesoamerican and Intermediate Region
Description
The function of these nearly life-size ear effigies is mysterious, although a set of four holes drilled on each of the inner edges suggest they were seated on something. (Three holes are shallow while one channels through each ear horizontally and could have been used for lashing.) The pierced lobes may have held ear ornaments.- {{cite web|title=Set of Human Ear Effigies|url=false|author=|year=900–500 BC|access-date=27 April 2024|publisher=Cleveland Museum of Art}}
