A sculpture is a three-dimensional artwork and can be created with many kinds of materials. Sculptures can be of people or things, or sculptures can be abstract. What will you make?
The Cleveland Museum of Art’s performing arts series brings together thoughtful, fascinating, and beautiful experiences, comprising a concert calendar notable for its boundless multiplicity. This year we look forward to visits from old friends and new, bringing us music from around the globe and spanning many centuries. Here is the place where performance is intended to explore connections of cultures, the heart, the human spirit.
Beginning on December 22, 2012 through May 5, 2013, three recent works and a large-scale installation of 35 flag paintings by American artist Fred Wilson will be on view in the Betty T. and David M. Schneider Gallery (East Wing Glass Box Gallery). Included in the exhibition is a recently acquired artwork by the museum, To Die Upon a Kiss, (2011), a Murano glass chandelier. The objects included in the museum's installation give an overview of Wilson's influential and diverse practice and explore the question that has been fundamental to his art making: How is it possible to pose critical questions about how museums work from within a museum itself?

The Ames Family Atrium is the majestic centerpiece to the museum's recently completed eight-year expansion and renovation project. Designed by Rafael Viñoly, the soaring, three story high ceiling accentuates the grandeur of the glass-enclosed space, centrally located in the heart of the world-renowned galleries of the museum. The atrium is a blank slate suitable for a diverse suite of gatherings.
