Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (October 9, 1854) as plate 2 from the series The Good Bourgeois.
A horizontally oriented black ink lithograph depicts two people on a rocky shore. On our right, a man with light skin tone in a top hat and checkered trousers carves PRUDHOMME into a cliff face. Beside him, a woman with light skin tone in a bonnet and voluminous dress crouches. To our left, a calm sea meets a pale sky with a small boat on the horizon. Heavy shading textures the scene.
