Did You Know?

This image was used in a stamp issued in 2008 by the French Post to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Daumier's birth.
A vertically oriented print in dense black-inked lines depicts people with light skin tones crowding a theater box office. A man in a light coat and top hat leans deep into a small ticket window on our right. Behind him, figures in headscarves and top hats wait. Two children stand in the bottom left corner. Text on the hatched wall lists ticket prices for the balcon, parterre, orchestre, and stalles.
