Description

This print was published as plate 18 from The Monthly Association (l’Association Mensuelle pour la Liberté de la Presse), a special edition of La Caricature.
A horizontally oriented black ink lithograph depicts four curved tiers of men seated in a semicircular hall. Figures feature exaggerated features, rounded bodies, and slumped postures with somnolent or dour expressions. In the lower right, a man leans over a low ledge. Others whisper, read, or sleep. French text is inscribed on the central wall and in the bottom margin. High contrast between dark clothing and light skin highlights the arranged rows of caricatured faces.
