A vertically oriented etching in black ink looks down a bustling thoroughfare suggested by fine, frenetic strokes. Tall rectangular buildings with striped awnings flank the road, their facades defined by rapid vertical hatching. Numerous figures and carriages are rendered with layered, sketchy marks, moving toward a twin-towered structure in the distance. Dense strokes create deep shadows along the buildings on the right, while light, open lines suggest a pale sky.
