Description

This print was published in the journal La Caricature (No. 199 ) as plate 417.
A horizontally oriented print in black ink depicts a large man slumped in an armchair topped with a crown. His top hat conceals his face, and his stout body rests above three cannons pointing in different directions. Behind the chair, a woman in a floppy cap stands with her head bowed, while a long-necked bird peeks from our left. Fine lines and deep shadows define the forms, and French text runs along the bottom.
