Description

This print was first published in the journal La Caricature (May 10, 1840) as plate 23 from the series Parisian Types; it was later re-published in Le Charivari (January 5, 1842).
A grayscale lithograph depicts an elderly man with light skin tone reclining against pillows, wearing a nightcap. Sketchy lines define his expressive face and bulbous nose as he gazes upward with hands clasped and mouth slightly agape. To the right, an ornate, oval-framed portrait of a woman hangs on the patterned wall. The text "TYPES PARISIENS" is printed at the top and "SOUVENIRS" at the bottom within a wide white border.
