Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (August 11, 1839) as plate 3 from the series Parisian Emotions.
A vertically oriented black-and-white lithograph depicts a lanky, caricatured man standing in profile. He wears a tall top hat and dark coat, gazing toward a window labeled "CAFE RESTAURANT" that displays bowls of food. His features are exaggerated with a long nose and slight smile. Behind the glass, three men dine at a table. Fine, sketchy lines shade the composition, with a dark shadow stretching from the man's feet across the ground.
