This print was published in Le Charivari (June 21, 1859) as plate 11 from the series The Exhibition of 1859.
A horizontally oriented print in dark ink depicts a gallery where paintings recede along the left wall. In the foreground, a man in a top hat holds a booklet, standing beside a woman in a dark shawl. They inspect a large framed artwork on the right showing a winged child and a face peering over a door. Sketchy, loose lines define background figures, while cross-hatching shades the foreground pair.
