Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (September 4, 1842) as plate 24 from the series Ancient History.
A vertically oriented black lithograph on white paper depicts a woman with long dark hair seated on a rocky shore, chin resting on her hand as she gazes right toward a distant sailboat. Behind to our left grows a grapevine with large clusters. Expressive strokes and gray shading define the scene, emphasizing her seated form and the rugged ground. French text frames the image at the top and bottom.
