Description

This print, after the addition of a title and captions, was published in Le Charivari (June, 6, 1841) as plate 38 from the series Matrimonial Customs.
A vertically oriented print in black ink depicts two people with light skin tones in a room. On our left, a woman wearing a bonnet and dress pulls a white cloth from a table, scattering plates and a bottle. To our right, a man in a dark jacket and striped trousers faces her while raising a long loaf of bread overhead. An overturned chair sits in the background.
