Description

Although the identity of this man remains a mystery, its realism is striking. Far from idealized, it convincingly depicts a solid middle-aged man with wrinkled forehead, high cheek bones, and deep-set eyes.
A marble sculpture depicts a man's head facing forward. He has short, wavy hair and two deep lines across his forehead. His brow is furrowed over wide eyes, which are outlined but lack further detail. His nose is broken at the tip, and his lips are pressed together in a straight line. The beige stone is weathered and pitted, with dark gray and brown staining on the hair and the cheek to our right.
