Description

Since 1924 the Print Club of Cleveland has annually commissioned an artist to make a print for distribution to its members. Arms was asked to make the print for 1927 and, so honored, wrote an appreciative note to Lewis B. Williams, president of the club, “I have not had many signs of recognition bestowed upon me since I put aside the architect’s T square and triangle and took up the etcher’s needle.” A few months later he wrote Frederic Allen Whiting, director of the museum, “I will do all in my small power to etch you as fine a plate as I possibly can and one that will be worthy of the Print Club and will both do me justice and please your members.” The club received 250 impressions of Saint Paul, Alpes Maritimes, and Arms joined the club as an artist member.
