Description

This scene, of men in boats gathering reeds on a lake while geese fly in the moonlit sky, tells us that autumn in the air.
A horizontally oriented woodblock print depicts a riverside scene beneath a large, pale moon. At right, a figure in a blue robe stands beside drying grain; nearby, a child pulls a turtle on a string. Men pole wooden boats along the water toward the left. Geese fly across a muted sky above thatched-roof dwellings. Thin, delicate lines and blocks of flat color define this quiet landscape.
