Did You Know?

Devastation after an earthquake includes a horse trapped under a fallen pavilion.
A vertically oriented tempera painting depicts people with light skin tones in scenes of labor and catastrophe interspersed with rectangular blocks of Persian text. At the top, white hail falls on figures in vibrant robes on rooftops. In the middle, men work on stone masonry. Lower, an earthquake collapses buildings into a tangle of beams and rubble where several figures lie fallen near a leafy tree. Calligraphy fills tan boxes throughout.
