Did You Know?

The text is from Chapter 39 of the Qur'an, "Surah al-Zumar"; verses 42–50 are on recto, while 51–60 are on the verso.

Description

The text includes verses from the 39th chapter of the Qur’an, "Surah al-Zumar." The Arabic text is written in Rayhani script, one of the six official scripts of Perso-Arabic calligraphy, and ornamented with red, blue, and gold rosettes. There is a red, blue, and gold roundel in the border on the verso (front).
One side of a vertically oriented off-white page features twelve lines of Arabic calligraphy written in black ink shifting to brown. The script has elongated horizontal strokes and fine curves, punctuated by scattered gold flower-shaped markers with red centers. A thin gold and black frame borders the text. The wide margins show mottled brown stains and signs of wear, including a small tear at the top right. Text shows through from the reverse side.
