Did You Know?

The text is from chapter 39 of the Qur'an, "Surah al-Zumar." Verses 42–50 are on recto, while 51–60 are on the verso.

Description

The text includes verses from chapter 39 of the Qur’an, Surah al-Zumar. The Arabic text is written in Rayhani script, one of the six official scripts of Perso-Arabic calligraphy, and ornamented with red, blue, and gold rosettes. There is a red, blue, and gold roundel in the border on the verso (front).
A vertical cream folio features thirteen lines of black Arabic calligraphic script within a rectangular frame. Faint outlines surround each character. Small gold floral markers punctuate the text. A narrow black and gold border encloses the writing. In the right margin, a blue and gold circular medallion sits on a thin vertical line. The aged paper displays uneven edges and subtle stains.
