Did You Know?

In the Panama-Costa Rica region, gold ornaments were associated with political and religious authority.
A gold pendant depicts a human-shaped figure with a wide face and linear mouth. Stacked spiral ornaments flank the head, which is topped by two rounded protrusions and a grid-patterned headband. Below a beaded necklace, the body splits into two broad, flat sections. From these, two vertical, pointed elements hang, each capped with a textured band. Fine relief details and a polished finish emphasize the symmetrical, stylized design.
