Description

This print was published in March 1834 as plate 20 from The Monthly Association (l’Association Mensuelle), a special edition of La Caricature.
A horizontally oriented lithograph depicts a muscular printer with light skin tone standing defiantly over a banner reading "LIBERTE DE LA PRESSE." With clenched fists and a resolute gaze, he wears a crumpled, rolled-sleeve shirt and wide-legged trousers cinched with a sash. To our left, three caricatured men in coats scuffle. To our right, three monarchs in military dress support a collapsed figure. Below, text reads "NE VOUS Y FROTTEZ PAS !!"
