Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (June 11, 1843) as plate 14 from the series Parisian Boatmen.
A horizontally oriented print depicts two men in a small wooden boat. Centrally, a man wearing a wide-brimmed hat stands holding a long vertical pole. To the left, another man in a dark cap leans over the edge, reaching toward a figure submerged in the water whose booted leg kicks upward. Fine pencil strokes define water ripples, several birds in the sky, and a hazy, tree-filled shoreline in the background.
