A horizontally oriented oil painting depicts a river valley landscape. In the upper half, a blue sky is filled with textured white clouds. In the lower half, a dark green bank slopes toward shallow water and pale sandbanks. To the right, a dense cluster of tall, dark green trees rises against the sky. Low hills rest in the distance. The earthy colors of the landscape reflect in the river's water.
