Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (March 12, 1869) as plate 43 from the series News of the Day.
A vertically oriented black ink lithograph on off-white paper depicts a caricature of a man with light skin tone leaning far back in a chair. His mouth is open as he drops small round objects from his raised right hand. To our right, a table holds a mound of fruit, a sack labeled "100000," and a stand of upright knives. Multiple columns of printed French text occupy the lower half of the composition.
