Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (March 24, 1869) as plate 62 from the series News of the Day.
A vertically oriented lithograph in black ink depicts a caricatured man with a large head, hooked nose, and glasses. Massive, webbed bat wings sprout from his shoulders, while his torso tapers into thin legs standing behind a box labeled URNE ELECTORALE. Fine lines and cross-hatching define the textures of his skin and the expansive wings. Columns of French text and captions fill the bottom third of the aged paper.
