Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (March 01, 1850) as plate 80 from the series News of the Day.
A vertically oriented black ink lithograph depicts two men with light skin tones in ancient military attire. On our right, a rotund man wears a helmet topped with a smoking brazier, carrying a large quill and a shield labeled "PATE DE REGNAULT." He pushes a thin man holding a scroll labeled "CONSTITUTION" through a dark curtain on our left. Sketched mountains appear in the distance. The scene is rendered with loose, expressive lines.
