Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (October 27, 1851) as plate 238 from the series News of the Day.
A horizontally oriented lithograph in black ink depicts a person in a nightcap sleeping at the lower left. A massive, billowy dream cloud rises above the sleeper. Inside, a woman in a plumed hat rides a horse-drawn carriage toward a large chateau. Two figures guide the carriage across the clouds. Sketchy lines form dark curtains on the left, while French text below reads: "Révant qu'elle a gagné le gros lingot d'or."
