Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (February 28, 1850) as plate 81 from the series News of the Day.
A horizontal lithograph in black ink on paper depicts a man with an oversized head and spindly limbs standing in a carriage facing our right. He holds a paper inscribed "L'ERE DES CESARS" while small winged insects swarm his head. In the background, tiny figures flee across a hilly landscape. A large carriage wheel dominates the lower left, while a horse's rump is visible on the right. French text is printed at the bottom.
