Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (May 18, 1850) as plate 128 from the series News of the Day.
A vertically oriented lithograph in black ink depicts a caricatured man, Mr. Dupin, descending stairs toward our left. He wears oversized shoes and carries a bundle on a pole. To our right, a large bell and armchair sit before tiered balconies filled with sketchy figures. Fine hatching and gestural lines create the scene. Text above reads "ACTUALITÉS," while a French caption is centered below the image.
