Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (June 23, 1854) as plate 69 from the series News of the Day.
A horizontally oriented lithograph in black ink on cream paper depicts a large man with a light skin tone reclining against a tree with closed eyes. He wears a plumed helmet and a military uniform with a sash crossing his protruding belly. To the right, a smaller figure in a tasseled cap pulls a tall boot from the man's leg. Another boot rests on the ground. Sparse clouds and text appear in the margins.
