Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (April 29, 1868) as plate 98 from the series News of the Day.
A vertically oriented lithograph in black ink depicts three caricatured statues on pedestals. On our left, a small, frowning man clutches round bombs. Centrally, a man wearing a rounded hat leans on a long rifle. To our right, a large-headed man with wild hair carries scrolls and leans against a cannon. Shaded with detailed hatching, the pedestals feature inscriptions naming the men as inventors of various weapons of war.
