Description

This print was published in the journal Le Charivari on June 8, 1846.
A horizontally oriented lithograph in black ink depicts a crowded, narrow street. Detailed, hatched lines form a two-wheeled cart overflowing with furniture. A portly man in a nightcap sits atop the pile while straining men push and pull the cart. To the left, a baker watches and spectators peer from windows. Signs with text like "A LA BRIOCHE" jut from buildings, framing the bustling, expressive composition.
