Did You Know?

The palm leaves used to create manuscripts were harvested from the Talipot Palm, seen on the right.
A horizontally oriented gum tempera and ink painting on a palm leaf features three blocks of dense script flanking a central rectangular illustration. In the scene, Sudhana stands against a red backdrop between a leafy tree and a palm tree, a white buffalo to our left. Five horizontal rows of small, dark characters fill the text sections. Two circular binding holes punctuate the long leaf, separating the script from the central scene.
