A vertically oriented etching in black ink on off-white paper depicts Paul Cézanne, a man with light skin, turned to our left. He wears a textured cap and heavy overcoat, dense intersecting lines creating shadows on his full beard. Loose, sketchy strokes define the voluminous folds of his clothing and a hand resting in his lap. The signature ".C. Pissarro" appears top left, with "1874 Pissarro" at the bottom right.
