Description

This print was published as plate 22 from The Monthly Association (l’Association Mensuelle), a special edition of La Caricature.
A horizontally oriented black ink lithograph depicts a portly man with a light skin tone standing centrally, head bowed and hands to his face. He wears a dark top hat and coat. To our left, a crowd surrounds a dark carriage. To our right, small figures cover a hillside. A broken cross lies in the foreground. Fine, cross-hatched lines create deep shadows throughout. Satirical French text is printed below.
