Did You Know?

The Cleveland artist Russell Limbach made this print during a skyscraper building boom in downtown Cleveland that included the construction of Terminal Tower.
A vertically oriented lithograph depicts six people crowded in an elevator. On our left, an operator with medium-dark skin stands in profile. Behind him, three figures with light skin tones face forward: a woman wearing a monocle, a man in round glasses, and a man with a pipe. In the foreground, two figures with medium-dark and light skin tones stand with their backs toward us. Strong lighting illuminates their faces against the dark background.
