A vertically oriented softground etching depicts a child in profile facing right. Dense, vertical parallel lines form a heavily hatched background behind the head. Thick, dark strokes define the child's hair and a bow, while fine, sketchy lines trace a downward gaze and protruding lower lip. In contrast, faint minimalist lines suggest the shoulders and chest, leaving the lower half of the frame showing the pale paper.
